RAMADAN 1446 AH
Praises are for Allah and salutations on His beloved Messenger Muhammad, his companions and those who follow him until the end of time.
Beloved brothers and sisters!
Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Baraakatuh
As the anticipation for Ramadan builds, I want to take this opportunity to wish you Ramadan Mubarak from the Islamic Institute of Toronto.
Ramadan is a month of immense spiritual treasures. It is the month of the Qur’an – the invaluable gift from Allah, the Exalted; it is the month of fasting, prayers and charity; it is the month of mercy, forgiveness and redemption from the fire of hell. We pray that Allah allow us to benefit from these blessings.
InshaAllah, Ramadan commences on Saturday, March 1, 2025 with the first Tarawih prayers on Friday, February 28th, beginning with Salaatul Esha at 8:00 PM.
Tarawih prayers will be led by our Imams Ridwan and Salem Jahedar. Please note that Daylight Savings Time will end on Saturday, March 8th, and the time for Suhur, Iftar and prayers will spring forward one hour on Sunday, March 9th.
Please consult our Ramadan Calendar for daily timings. The calendar is available for pickup at IIT, and a downloadable version can be accessed at islam.ca.
We will also be offering the following programs during the month:
- Saturday Iftar and Lecture Programs every Saturday, one hour before Maghrib
- Online Resilient Hour Pre-Iftar Program on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 45 minutes before Iftar
- Youth Nights on Friday Nights after Tarawih prayers
Over the past two years, we have witnessed unprecedented atrocities against Muslims in various parts of the world. More recently, even Canada has been the target of threats and intimidation.
At IIT, we recognize the value of speaking out against injustice, and we urge you to fulfil your responsibilities as Muslims and Canadians to add your voice to those who are advocating for justice and freedom for all. Your voice matters. We believe that none of us is as strong as all of us.
This is why we have engaged in various collaborative initiatives with other organizations to help quell the tide of injustice, discrimination and systemic barriers to build a country where all citizens are respected.
