The Quebec Mosque Shooting – A Day to Remember

We remember well the day this happened and the sense of fear and shock in our community.

Innocent worshippers gunned down in the mosque.

Radicalization from several quarters, including here in Canada, the US and Norway.

Families torn apart, their loved ones gone in an instant, or in some cases left with lifelong injuries.

Unfortunately, nine years on and we haven’t learned the lessons as a society – stereotyping, hate propaganda, legislative discrimination, and rhetoric that targets Muslims.

Today we remember the families and all those impacted and once again call on our governments – federal and provincial- to lead by example.

May Allah accept our brothers in Jannah and grant their families strength and comfort in their grief.

We encourage everyone to raise awareness on this occasion; to raise your voice against Islamophobia and to work diligently for a better Canada and a better world.
