Eighth Anniversary of the Quebec Mosque Shooting

On January 29, 2017 in an act of extreme Islamophobia, six Muslim men were gunned down in a Quebec mosque as they performed the Fajr (dawn) prayers. Others who were injured still suffer the trauma of that fateful day.

January 29th has since been proclaimed as the National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia

Eight years on, there is still rampant Islamophobia occurring on a daily basis. Even the decisions of governments such as Quebec with its secularism law are tools of Islamophobia against Muslims who seek to practice their faith peacefully.

We call on all governments and civil society to fight against hate in all its forms and to work proactively to recognize the impact of Islamophobia on the Muslim Community.

On January 29, wear a Green Square and express your solidarity with those fighting against Islamophobia. Also, please remember our brothers and sisters who have been victims of Islamophobia attacks over the years.
