The Islamic Institute of Toronto is pleased to advertise for a permanent, full-time custodian for its premises at 1630 Neilson Rd., Toronto, ON
This position requires an individual with the necessary experience and skills to provide a variety of custodian and security-related services for the Islamic Institute of Toronto. Services would include ensuring the cleanliness of the facilities, providing requisite security checks and monitoring to ensure safety of attendees ,monitor the facilities and related equipment to ensure timely information and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Work as a team with responsibilities for custodian and security-related services, with specific accountability for certain defined services
- Provides direction to visitors, staff, program participants etc. for any inquiries related to programs or services provided by IIT
- Responsible for ensuring security of the facilities, including locking of doors, setting of alarm systems and troubleshooting for any security or facility-related issue
- Responsible for providing the requisite support to ensure the Principal, Vice Principal and Directors can discharge their duties
- Interacts with visitors, parents, program participants when necessary and fosters a harmonious relationship between staff, parents and the community members
- Supports school staff in the execution of their daily responsibilities
- Co-ordinates the purchasing of materials and supplies with the Board of Directors and /or designated Committee(s) and ensures adequate supplies are maintained
- Effective liaison with third party Contractors to ensure service standards are met, including snow plowing and other related services
- Coordinates with other Custodial staff to ensure that shifts are covered
Required Qualifications
- Several years of experience in a similar environment
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- A working knowledge of janitorial procedures, including storage and use of hazardous substances
- Ability to deal with confidence and professionalism when responding to inquiries from visitors and members of the public
- Ability to discern any potential safety issues and to be able to respond appropriately
- Ability to perform certain physical duties (with the appropriate accommodation, if required) and to operate small machinery used for maintaining the facilities and its components.
- Committed to the code of conduct of the Islamic Institute of Toronto.
