The Islamic Institute of Toronto Academy is an elementary school (Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8) located in the northeast end of the City of Toronto. This modern Islamic elementary school, situated on an eight-acre parcel of land, offers a program consisting of the Ontario and Islamic curriculum.

Responsibilities

We are currently accepting applications for qualified and experienced educators for the following positions:

  • Full-Time Homeroom Teachers
  • French Teachers
  • Math Teachers
  • Arabic Teachers
  • On-Call (Supply) Teachers

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a vision of excellence in instruction and a commitment to students’ academic success, supported by a solid understanding of the fundamentals of Islam, including the ability to:

  • Provide face-to-face instruction to IIT students (or online if needed)
  • Utilize the approved current Ontario curriculum
  • Develop clearly stated course objectives and learning outcomes
  • Ensure that course objectives and content remain current and up to date
  • Maintain accurate classroom records
  • Meet deadlines, evaluate student work, and provide timely feedback
  • Demonstrate effective classroom management and foster a safe, inclusive learning environment
  • Understand and apply Islamic concepts and practices within a pluralistic society
  • Be flexible and able to work within a unionized environment

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience in an Ontario school or a similar environment
  • Ability to plan for and teach all elementary grade levels
  • Certification and/or demonstrated mastery of subjects for upper
  • elementary grades
  • Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) qualification (asset)

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to relate to students, parents, faculty, administrative staff, and board members
  • Strong technical and computer skills
  • Experience with Google Classroom (asset)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with integrity, enthusiasm, initiative, and confidence
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on compassion, patience, and professionalism
