IIT once again delivered an interesting series of events for Islamic History Month 2024.
- 5 events held during the month with exhibits, lectures and presentations
- programs included an exploration of various themes, focusing on Palestine, health/healing and trauma; hidden crises in the world including the Rohingyas, the Uyghurs and the persecution of Muslims in India. On the fourth and final week we focused on how the Muslim ummah has historically bounced back from conflicts, citing the devastating impact of the Mongol invasion, and more recently the youth-led uprisings in Bangladesh.
- IIT was honored to collaborate with several local organizations that are working on the social justice front, including NCCM and Justice For All Canada.
- we are grateful for the participation of local scholars, experts and activists including Imam Ayman Taher, Imam Zijad Delic, Br. Hassam Munir, Sr. Naila Sayeed; Br. Aiden Alexiou; Dr. Nazim Uddin and the Dabke Group.
- The IHM program at IIT could not have been executed without the expertise of Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick and the graphic work of Br. Mamoun Hassan from Nabagha Agency.
