Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Baraakatuh
إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
It is with a deep sense of sadness that we announce the passing of one of Canada’s Muslim visionary, leader and community builder Br. Pervez Nasim who passed away on Wednesday evening.
He was a pioneer in developing many halal financing instruments, including the Islamic Cooperative Housing Corporation and Ansar Financial. He was an avid supporter of many projects in the community, most notably those that support the disabled; he was a founder of the Muneeba Centre in Mississaugua – a project of Deen Support Services. He was also supportive of community fundraising for the Scarborough Hospital Foundation. He served on the Boards of many organizations and presented at Islamic conferences locally and internationally.
Br. Pervez attended the Islamic Institute of Toronto regularly, most recently on Friday for Salaatul Jumu’ah as he always did. He was one of our major donors and sponsors for events and initiatives.
His friend and colleague Br. Mohamed Jalaluddin attested to his visionary leadership and commitment to Islamic solutions – in fact, on the day of his passing he was engaged in meetings to discuss Islamic finance projects and operations.
We pray that Allah accept his efforts for His deen in this world, forgive him for his shortcomings and grant him a lofty place in Jannah. We pray that Allah grant his family strength and comfort at this time of grief.
Details of the Janaazah prayer is in the attached announcement from his family.
